Patients of all ages are referred to Dr. Hinrichs by a wide variety of professionals. They may have issues related to vision development, visual processing, learning disabilities and/or head trauma. In order to support your priorities, we must first gather information from previous testing. This includes previous eye exam records, occupational therapy evaluations, neuropsychology reports, speech and language therapy evaluations, educational testing, IEP’s and other reports you may have received.
The initial evaluation, along with the patient’s history, allows us to understand the patient's vision and how the patient is using his or her eyes and brain together. A report of our findings is written to provide a written review of the patient’s vision and visual learning that can be shared with other professionals. When treatment is indicated, the options are carefully reviewed to decide which options and in what time frame the patient will receive the most benefit. The length of treatment and the balance between home therapy and office therapy is individualized for each patient.
