What is Optometric Vision Therapy
Optometric vision therapy is vision rehabilitation prescribed by behavioral optometrists to improve certain types of vision problems that cannot be helped with only glasses or surgery. Vision rehabilitation, also called developmental or functional vision is a process of establishing and strengthening the neural connections between the brain and the visual system. Working one-on-one each week with Dr. Hinrichs, our patients develop increased efficiency and control of their visual system through advanced therapy techniques.
In each optometric vision therapy session, the patient is guided through a series of visually directed treatments. Our optometric vision therapy focuses on integrating vision with the rest of the body. As patients progress, they begin to learn how to use their vision with increased efficiency and agility; the patients also begin to absorb information faster and with greater understanding. As a result, our patients emerge from optometric vision therapy with greater confidence and the ability to perform better in school, in sports and in the workplace.
At CAH Vision, we provide a structured approach to developing and enhancing vision abilities. Over the course of optometric vision therapy, our patients develop better visual skills such as tracking, eye focusing, eye teaming and more.
